Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
..The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM is a high performance, water-resistant,
and ultra wide-angle Canon lens. It's weight is 1.4 lb (635g). The build quality
is very good like it should be on a Canon L-lens. The lens is very sharp in the center
at all apertures but decreases against the corners at wide apertures.
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
This is an affordable L-series ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that's
ideal for both film and digital SLR's. The build quality is very good
and the resolution in the center is very high from the widest aperture,
the borders are good but it helps if you stop down a bit.
It's lightweight, only 17.5 oz (500g).
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
This lens does what many pros thought couldn't be done - replace the
previous L-series 28-70 f/2.8 lens with something even better.
It's now sealed and gasketed against dust and moisture. It's a very well
built lens and it is also relatively big and heavy 2.1 lbs. ( 950g).
It is very sharp for a zoom lens, especially if you stop it down a little.
This lens have some variations between samples so if you buy one
check it so you have a good sample.
Mine fell from a desk attached to a Canon 1-series camera and broke at the lens mount.
I sent it to Canon Factory Service for repair and had it back in about week. |
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
This easy-to-use standard Canon lens can cover a large zoom
area ranging from 24mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait-length telephoto,
and its Image Stabilizer Technology steadies camera shake up
to three stops according to Canon. It's very well built and relatively
light weight, 23.6 oz. ( 670g) and weather proof. This lens is
extremely sharp, sharper then the 24-70mm f/2.8 but not as fast obviously.
It is slightly less sharp at 105mm then at wider zoom ranges.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
The build quality of this Canon lens is exceptional. It's heavy, 3.24 lbs. ( 1470g).
AF speed is very fast. The lens is very sharp at wider zoom ranges
but less so at 200 mm, which is disappointing for such an expensive lens.
It is sharp enough for me though, it helps if you stop it down.
This fast zoom is weather sealed and comes with a tripod ring.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
The EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM is a lightweight, 26.8 oz. (760g)
compact L Series telephoto zoom lens with the third-generation Image Stabilizer.
The build quality is excellent and AF is very fast and silent.
The lens is very sharp at all settings, one of the best zoom
lenses and it is weather sealed. Very highly recommended.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM
High-performance, L-series telephoto zoom lens combining light weight,
25 oz. ( 705g) and compactness, good build quality and very fast AF.
This lens is very sharp at all settings and the price is more affordable
then the other Canon 70-200 mm lenses.
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS
This is an affordable and light weight 22.2 oz. (630g,) Canon lens.
The build quality is average but it features Image Stabilizer Technology that
provides up to three stops of "shake" correction and it have
a UD element which is unusual for a consumer lens. The optical quality is
very good for this lens, resolution is high from the widest aperture, it decreases
a little against the long end but not much. This lens have variations
beetween samples, so check it out so you have gotten a good one.
