Nikon Lenses (Zoom)

You are going to need good Nikon lenses and other accessories to be
able to use your camera to it's fullest.
You can go with zoom and/or prime lenses, for weddings
lenses with a large maximum aperture like 2.8 or bigger is very good to have.

If you can't afford to by these expensive lenses you can rent when
you have an important shoot. Get it a little in advance so you
have time to try it out.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED

This is G-type lens so it has no aperture ring. It has a Silent Wave Motor (AF-S)
so Autofocus is fast and almost silent. Build quality and image quality of this Nikon lens is excellent,
it's the sharpest wide angle lens I have used. If you need a wide angle lens and can afford this one, Get It.

Note: You can't mount a filter on this lens. Well, maybe with a Cokin filter holder but I haven't tried it.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

This is one of most used Nikon lenses among wedding photographers.
It replaced the legendary 28-70mm f/2.8, also called the "Beast".
Many were suprised that Nikon didn't include the VR feature but I guess they wanted to keep the weight down,
it's heavy as it is 31.7oz. (900g).

Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED

This fast f/2.8 high-performance zoom lens features Nikons VR image stabilization and is the excellent lens for low-light sports and portrait photography. The build quality is extremely high, most parts are metallic. It's a G-type lens so it doesn't have an aperture ring. It comes with a detachable tripod-collar which you might need, it's heavy 51.9oz. (1470g).

Recommended Nikon Zoom Lenses

Nikon AF Zoom-NIKKOR 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF

This is a wide to telephoto 3.5x zoom lens. It have a descent build quality and is very sharp right from the biggest aperture setting especially at the wide end. AF is fast and accurate but a little noisy. Use it for everything beetween landscape and portrait photography.

Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED

The build quality of this Nikon lens is relatively good. AF is almost silent and the speed is descent. The lens is very sharp beetween 70-200 mm but less so at 300 mm, it helps if you stop down at the long end of the zoom range. Closest focus distance is 4.9 feet (1.5m) at all zoom settings.
