information on the different types of photography, please continue reading on.
Photography is an art form that involves more than just portraits,
glamour or landscape shots. Both amateur and professional photographers
have preferences and are likely to favor one type of shot over another.
For example, a professional photographer may produce journalistic shots,
while someone else may enjoy macrophotography.

Photojournalism
This type of photography is typically limited to professionals, but amateurs can do
these shots without any formal training or experience. Photojournalism allows the pictures
to maintain the integrity and meaning of the original situation and scene.
With photojournalism, no alteration or photo embellishment is needed, as only the facts are required.
These types of photographs are very powerful pictures; they engage the viewer
in a news story. This is one of the most popular types of photography from the standpoint of a viewer.
As previously stated, amateurs can take journalistic photographs, but it often takes years of experience,
training and practice to capture the original element of the scene in one single picture.

Documentary Photography
Documentary photographs are similar to photojournalism pictures,
but they tell a story with the image. The main difference is
that documentary photographs have a historical importance. They document
eras and not just one particular scene or moment. Although most photographs
have a historical importance, any topic can be shot. It is also important to
not manipulate the image; the truth must be shown in the picture.
A good example of documentary photography is images of the combat in war zones;
they capture an important time in history and tell an engaging story.
Macrophotography
Macrophotography is a phrase that is used to describe close range pictures.
At one time, macrophotography was only for those with expensive equipment,
but digital cameras that have macro settings enable even amateurs to enjoy this type of photography.
Interesting detail makes these pictures beautiful and award winning,
making it one of the most popular types of photography for beginners.
Good subjects for macrophotography include texture shots, flowers and insects.
Microphotography
Microphotography is not like the other types of photography, as it is reserved
for experts who have special cameras and microscopes. It describes the process of
capturing not just small subjects, but extremely small ones.
This type of photography is best for the field of science.
For instance, microphotography is used in medicine, biology and astronomy.
Action Photography
Action photography is one of the most fast paced and exciting
types of photography and picture taking. Any type of in-movement shot
can be deemed an action shot, but sports photography is the most common.
An action photographer does not necessarily need to have years of experience,
but they should know their subject. For example, a sports photographer should know their subject
well enough to know when to take pictures. The same rings true for action shots of wildlife and transportation.
Poor quality pictures can result from acting too soon, as well as waiting too long.
Portraiture
Portrait photographs are one of the oldest types of photography on record.
The goal of these pictures is to capture the personality of the subject.
Despite what you might believe, portraiture pictures do not need to be of people.
You can do portrait shots of family pets too.
Wedding Photography
Wedding photography, unlike the above mentioned types of photography,
is a collection of different styles. Action shots, portraits, and documentary shots are all common.
Wedding photos are regularly edited to produce beautiful effects. For example, sepia toning
can be used to create timeless looks. Since wedding photography is a combination of
different photography types, experience and skill is required.
